Hi all, I found this site looking for information on infant suboxone withdrawl. My daughter just delivered her lil girl on weds. she has been on suboxone the whole pregnancy and is monitored by addiction specialist. she asked the dr if she should switch to subetox and he said no because he was worried about her not having the opiate blocker that suboxone has. the baby weighed 6 lbs 5 oz but she is in withdrawls. she was just transported to childrens hospital. she seems to be shaky and sneezing alot and them are symptoms of withdrawl. she has fluctuated between 5 and 10 on the finnegan scale for withdrawls. the sad part of this is the pediatrician and the nurses at the hospital had no knowledge of this medication none. So they called the childrens hospital and geuss what they didnt either. they are treating her like other babies in detox and I know she is where she needs to be while she goes through this. But to me this is ridicoulous that no one knows anything about this medicine. And to top that off my daughter who has been clean from opiates for 18 months was treated horribly. They even called social services. Something that we have been looking forward to for 9 months and they (the staff) out of ignorance has turned it in to something to be ashamed of. I am proud of my daughter that she is no longer using herion or oxys and that this is safer and keeping her alive and well. The medical community needs to acknowledge addiction as a disease and educate themselves on treatments and treat patients with the respect they deserve for wanting to be well. That is my 2 cents on it. I wish you all very well and my advice to you all is to try your best to educate your dr.s and nurses. If they dont want to listen make them. Good luck to all

i take suboxone but ran out ii have subutex i dont have to wait to take it but will i feel any diff since i was on the suboxone and now am going to the subutex does anyone know how the switch is there should be no withdrwel but im not sure?

i take half a 6mg suboxone now i am taking a half subutex will i feel any diff any withdrawel please help?

I've been on Valium, Serepax, Ativan, Xanax, Frisium, Clonazepam, Bromazepam, Temazepam, Mogadon, Triazolam, Rohypnol, Paroxetine, Prozac, Luvox, Zoloft, Clomipramine, Risperidone, Zyprexa, Seroquel, Solian, Haloperidol, Largactil, Stelazine, buspirone, codeine, oxycontin, dextropropoxyphene, Subutex, Tramadol...etc. What is the most sedating psychiatric anti-psychotic? What will knock me flat? I have been on all of the above medications, and none are helping. Buy the way, What is the difference between a judge and a magistrate, and can a magistrate jail you? I am 4 mnths 2 weeks pregnant, and I take about a half of suboxen a day but I have not told my dr because I am scared, I have also used off and on my whole pregnancy... Does anyoen have any comments on this one , can anyone tell me what to do at this time ?? I go back to the dr on the 23rd to find out if its a boy or girl im excited about that.. I just dont want the state to get involved and take my kid away that would kill me :0(

I want to thank everyone for their comments. It has been very informative. I have a few questions myself......... To start, I have been on subutex for a little over 2 yrs. I started out taking 8mg (1 tablet) and over the years slowly took less and less. I am 14 weeks pregnant and for the last 6-8 months I have been breaking off a tiny flake (literally). It definitely has to be under 1 mg/day. I know it is usually recommended not to get off during your pregnancy-especially in my situation because I have been using it for years before I got pregnant. My girlfriend just had a baby and she was using atleast 8 mg a day and used a few times while being pregnant. Her son is 15 months and is doing great! However, when he was born, he had to stay in the hospital for about 3 weeks to detox. He was not just detoxing from subutex but also the small amount of heroine that she used. The two things that really worry me are: CPS and breastfeeding while still on subutex. I havent used drugs in 2 years so Im not worried about being drug tested but just the thought of CPS involved gives me cringes. I dont want them to think I'm a bad mother being on subutex. Has anyone dealt with CPS that was only on Subutex (no other drugs used)? What is the process? Can they take your baby for having even trace amounts of Subutex in your system? And finally, i have always heard that you cant breastfeed while using subutex. My doctor is investigating so i dont know his option just yet. But i just read that the SAMHSA has stated, "...buprenorphine is not well absorbed in the stomach, babies getting it through breast milk seem to be minimally affected by it and that Subutex using women can breast feed". Has anyone else heard that or has breastfed while taking subutex?

I am on a prescription of subutex, I would like to go to zimbabwe but dont know if I would end up with a jail term if I go... Basically I know I can get a letter from my doctor saying it's prescribed for me but would it be accepted in zimbabwe?

its 12am and i dont particularly want to get a night doctor to come see me if it isnt anything serious. heres whats happened: FOR PEOPLE WHO WANT A SHORT EXPLANATION: (if you want the full story read the longer text paragraph below this one) I Am 19 years old Been on Subutex for 5 weeks Ex Drug user (Needles- morphine & heroin for about 9 months) In hospital for 4 weeks (but have to be in here for alot longer) I have a lesion on my right heart valve(being treated with IV drip-flucoxone) they now think they have found a left sided lesion on my heart valve( if its not tiny, i have to have open heart surgery, dont know size until i have T.O.E where they stick a scope down my throat with a camera on it) Also have - Golden staph infection I have lesions all over my lungs( also being treated with flucoxone) The pain is dull, and mainly in the back of my right upper arm.(But i have also been getting collar bone pain and shoulder pain prior to this, doctors not sure whats wrong??) Subutex dose i am on-10mg I met this guy at a low point of my life, i was depressed, anxious and sickly on alot of medication, i would not leave the house, this guy introduced me to needles - (morphine and the occasional shot of heroin) .. i did this for about 9 months all together, tried quitting a few times in those 9 months, even did a 7 day rehab detox, didnt work. i got really really sick about 7 weeks ago (ive been in hospital now for 4 weeks) whne i got really sick i tought it was the drugs so i decided to quit for good, i got myself onto a subutex program and was on that for 1 week before relising there was something seriosuly wrong and then got emitted into hospital. they found a lesion on my right heart valve, abcesses all over my lung and some infected skin tissue, golden staph (or some staph infection) but now they have recently found a new lesion on my left heart valve, they sent me for TOE to find out exactly what it is cause there not 100%..toe is transelosigis (something) echo (sorry i dunno more about it but maybe u do?) they put a scope down my throat with a camera on it to look at my heart properly. I am terrified of having a stroke, the doctor said if left side lesion breaks off and travels to brain...stroke im 19 years old and dearly sory that i played with my health like that, i wish i could turn back time but i cant..so please dont tell me to get off drugs cause i have and i am NEVER going to touch ever again..i was just sad and confused. Should i get a doctor to come see me? last time i told a nurse i had chest pain at like 2 in the morning, she made me go down and have an emergency Chest Xray..and nothing was wrong..really annoyed me..i just wanted painkillers..but in this case..im a bit worried and i dnt want painkillers its more of a dull pain Ive already told a nurse, She doesnt know what it could be, a nurse isnt a doctor.

Hi. I fell down the stairs and broke my back six years ago. I take Subutex for my chronic back pain. It works well. Prior to last June I took a significant amount of Methadone to treat my pain. That worked well also, better than the massive amounts of Fentanyl I was taking prior. Anyway, I had a baby and breastfed while on Methadone. I made a point of getting off Methadone and on to Subutex before becoming pregnant again. My doctor who has managed my pain treatment for years has me participating in a big study at John Hopkins. I will become a statistic and hopefully make it easier for women like me in the future. For now I would like to hear from anyone who has firsthand experience with being pregnant on Subutex and especially anyone who successfully breastfed. I breastfed on Methadone and it affected my milk supply in a negative way. It was a huge disappointment for me.I breastfed my first two children (now 14yrs & 11yrs old) for about 18 months. I think my 2yr old stopped around 10 months or so. I look forward to any helpful info that comes my way. I am due in six weeks with baby #4. Thanks...
