Open Question: I am on subutex and methadone was my drug of choice when using, now I am pregnant and terrified. what to do?

I am a addict in recovery, and I was on suboxone until I found out I was pregnant. My doctor suggested methadone, but since that was my drug of choice, I didn't think it was a good idea. He put me on Subutex, but now I am scared. It is my first pregnancy. What should I do???

Open Question: Flashing silver blue circle of light in my vision and taking Subutex?

I have just started taking subutex today. I am on a small dose - 4mg per day. Prior to that I was taking approx. 20, 30 mg of dihydrocodeine each day for about three years. I managed to go two and a half days cold turkey, however coming off the dhc was hard and I caved in and took tramadol for a day and a half, in total 300mg. However, I was still in a bad way and that's when my GP prescribed subutex. I took my first dose at 8:30 this evening. I feel fine with regard to withdrawal symptoms, except for a heavy foggy feeling in my head that I get when I take tramadol. Anyway, at around midnight I started experiencing a strange flashing silver and blue circle of light in my vision while watching TV. It lasted for approx. 15 mins. There was a strobing from the TV which may have caused it, but I have never experienced anything like it before, and it persisted after I had turned off the television. I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced problems with their sight while taking subutex. I would be very grateful for any answers as this has made me quite anxious about taking my next dose as my vision was significantly impaired. Thanks in advance Nik

Open Question: Am on Subutex, but have an operation coming up,was curious of other pain relief available?

I'm on 12mg of Subutex every day,and i got put on it because i had an addiction to morphine. Have been on it since July 2008. I recently found out that i have gall stones, and quite bigs ones too so they're deffiently going to do keyhole surgery. Iv'e been told that it will be really painfull after the operation, and when i get gall stone attacks now there really painful. Im just really worried because they wont be able to give me morphine after the operation. What else is available for effective pain relief that isn't an opiate that will affect the subutex?

Open Question: Subutex: Has anyone successfully left the program?

The only people we seem to come into contact is people still on the program! Some have tried but failed to jump off at various doses, & ATODS seem to think it is okay to stay on it indefinitely. But we are sick & tired of being tied to a 'replacement' addiction, financially & physically. Just need to see there is a light at the end of the tunnel & know that someone somewhere has done it successfully - & how they did it. Please, serious answers only. Additional Details *well, hubby has been on it for 3yrs himself - has successfully dropped to .08mls, but is too scared to jump from there, & has heard horror stories that going even lower then jumping is even harder! Wish he had never gone this route & just had withdrawal symptoms for a month or so. But we do want to know how long withdrawal will be if he jumps now. The clinic wants to keep him on it forever (no joke!) but we just can't afford for one, & yes, the 2 & 3 a week visits are tiring.

Resolved Question: This is to Ex-Heroin addicts, and this is a honest question?

I used to slam heroin for over a year. I started out using .1 of gram, and as my tolerance rose, i started increasing to .2. Eventually my tolerance kept rising and i had to keep buying more and more just to stay well. I messed big time, lost my job, my lady, my closest friends, and everything in between. I did rehab for three months, but realistically the first month all i did was vomit, complain, have constant diarrhea, and couldn't sleep for sh!t. That was my detox- cold turkey in a rehab facility where no meds are allowed. Anyways, i got out, and got on this medication called Subutex. When i first started using Subutex, it would me feel euphoric and happy... kind of like real opiates. See Subutex is an semi-synthetic opiod which fools the mind into feeling like your on opiates. But those fukers are expensive with insurance. I wanted to know will i go through a withdrawal if i stop taking the subutex??
