Resolved Question: SO, Walgreens has stopped carrying Generic Subutex based on a rumor? Obviously the best way to run a pharmacy.?

My sister has had a problem with pain meds in the past due to a spinal surgery she had a few years ago. I finally talked her into going to a clinic when Roxane began to distribute generic subutex. I honestly feel like this is the way for people to get off of pain medication if they truly want to and have to work while quitting. However, it seems like they have found another way to make money off of addicts by charging anywhere from three to six hundred dollars a month for the office visits alone. Now, the name brand suboxone and subutext are anywhere from 600 to 1000 a month without insurance, so the clinic is incredibly expensive but for some it is the only option. When she found out the generic was only about 160.00 to 180.00 a month, she decided to go for it. Now, Walgreens in Johnson City Tennessee told her that they had heard a rumor about the generic subutex being pulled from the shelves and recalled. Also, that Roxane was going to quit making them due to a lawsuit (that neither of us can find any information on anywhere). So, has anyone heard of this? Roxane to stop distributing, manufacturing or recalling generic subutex? Also, if a person just stops taking this medication without weaning themselves, there are serious dangers involved. She would have never started the clinic if these generics hadn't been released and now, Walgreens is no longer carrying them based on a rumor that no one I know has heard of or can find evidence of. Just curious, my sister has a job and a family at risk here, not to mention her health. It seems like Walgreens is making a life decisions for other people and they don't even know why.
Open Question: Suboxone to methadone (people with experience only please)?

I am 22 years old and I had my first knee surgery when I was 16 resulting from an injury that ripped out about 70% of my knee cartilidge. I had another surgery when I was 17 to try to help with the pain. I eventually got addicted to pain pills. From Tylenol 3's to Vicadin to Percacet to Oxycontin to fetanyl. I have done it all. I ended up going to rehab volunartily when i found out I was pregnant. I was then put on Subutex which is buprenorphine that blocks the brain receptors to let any opiate in (meaning even if I snorted an ounce of herion I wouldn't feel it) . The dr said Subutex wouln't harn the baby. I stayed clean. After the baby was born I was put on Suboxone. I stayed on it for a year and got pregnant again. I was put back on Subutex. I had the baby in September (remarkably on my1st daughters birthday). BOTH BABIES 100% HEALTHY! I was put back on suboxone and the suboxone is NOT working for hte cravings and my knee pain has kicked in FULL THROTTLE. I wake up in the middle of the night 2-3 times crying in pain. Its hard for me to get off the toilet without pulling myself up on the counter or getting up from picking up my kids' toys.I finally found a doctor who will switch me from Suboxone to Methadone. My appt is on the 14th. I have 2 small girls now and it is vital that I stay clean so I am switching to keep my pain under control and to keep the cravings out of my daily routine. My question to you is what dosage do you think I should go on coming from 24 mgs of Suboxone a day? (8mg 3 times a day that wasn't even working for cravings) I am thinking 3 10 mg pills a day. I just want to know what to suggest to the dr who will ultimately make the decision. I know there is big controversy and arguments about methadone vs suboxone but i have givien suboxone a good fair shot of 3 years. Its not for me. I am the type of person who is going to need to be on opiate for the rest of my life i am thinking. Any suggestions would help.

Resolved Question: I have tried suboxone and was not working for me, now I am on subutex and I am still having problems,?
November 9, 2009 By Leave a Comment
The problems I am having Is night sweats and cramping in my hands and sometimes in my upper legs, like I am still going through withdrwal, and I have been on the subutex fo 2 months 24mg a day. When I was on the suboxone It totally did not work for me I had extream cravings for my norco (hydrocodone) I do not have any cravings while I am on the subutex, but I do have a lot of what I feel Is withdrawl symtoms, that Is why my doctor uped my dosage from 16mg to 24 mg a day but nothing has changed. Do you think I should ask to go to methadone ? Thanks If you can answer any of my questions that would be great. Jenn
